Kiwibank's Home Hunter for iOS is the swiss army knife of the New Zealand housing market. It allows you to search for homes and properties, view estimated price ranges, get conditional pre-approval for home loans and more.

A closer look.
House hunting reimagined. Home Hunter brought search, pricing, affordability and conditional home-loan pre-approval into one iPhone app, then added mobile-first tools for exploring properties in the real world.
Homes in sight. Built with OpenGL, the augmented reality view overlaid nearby listings onto the camera, turning the surrounding streets into a visual way to discover what was for sale.
Search your way. Buyers could narrow listings by area, price, bedrooms and bathrooms, then compare the results through image-led property cards.
Follow the sun. The Sun Finder used augmented reality to show the sun’s position over a property throughout the year, helping buyers consider natural light before making a decision. This was possible years before Apple introduced ARKit to iPhones.
Every tool in reach. Search, pre-approval, calculators, Sun Finder and nearby discovery lived within one clear navigation system, making the app feel like a complete house-hunting toolkit.
See the whole picture. Property pages combined listing details with Kiwibank’s estimated price range, connecting the home itself with the financial context buyers needed.
Pre-approval made simpler. Buyers could work through their details, income, outgoings and deposit to request conditional home-loan pre-approval in around ten minutes.
Know your buying power. Once approved, the app translated a customer’s finances into a clear maximum purchase amount and showed how long that conditional approval remained valid.
Can I afford it? Affordability tools compared deposit, borrowing and fortnightly repayments against the selected property, helping buyers judge whether a listing fit their budget.
Fine-tune the shortlist. The app was full of responsive custom controls that made filtering content intuitive.
Keeping the search moving. When I joined SUSH Mobile, I took ownership of Home Hunter’s ongoing delivery, coordinating with business partners, designers and testers to fix issues, add features and deploy updates.
