About Xero
A closer look.
Deep in the product. As one of the main iOS engineers in Purchases and Bills, I delivered new functionality, resolved difficult bugs, reviewed code and mentored interns and graduates.
Architecture for change. I championed VIPER across the Xero Business app, guiding the pattern from concept through integration and mentoring engineers as teams adopted a more mature modular architecture.
Leading from the code. I moved from Senior iOS Engineer into Development Team Lead while continuing to spend up to half my time coding, keeping technical decisions grounded in the work my team delivered.
A team built to grow. I led a mobile team of nine direct reports and up to twelve indirect reports, using regular one-to-ones, feedback, hiring and mentoring to help engineers from junior to senior levels grow.
Less accounting friction. I delivered Bill Sharing and its Share Extension. I also worked behind the scenes to modernise architecture, including rewrites of Expenses as well as the core Bank Reconciliation experience.
From hackathon to product. I organised and led a company hackathon project that evolved into Xero’s mobile Purchase Orders feature, carrying an early prototype towards a product capability launched in 2023. I also presented live demos on-stage at Xerocon 2018.
