About RealMe Now

A closer look.

Built in collaboration

Built in collaboration. After completing Kiwibank Mobile Banking, I joined Kiwibank’s Digital Innovation lab to deliver a government-backed collaboration with RealMe and the Department of Internal Affairs for verifying bank applicants on iPhone.

Biometrics before Face ID

Biometrics before Face ID. RealMe Now used machine learning and computer vision to verify identity through facial biometrics in 2016, years before Face ID became publicly available.

A foundation for trust

A foundation for trust. I established the iOS foundation using VIPER and dependency injection, then built the main verification journey from on-device checks through to server upload.

The right conditions

The right conditions. The app assessed the user’s environment before capture, helping guide people through the conditions required for a usable biometric scan.

Face to passport

Face to passport. I integrated Daon IdentityX to compare a live facial scan against the applicant’s passport photo in real time, turning document evidence into a mobile verification step.

Proof of life

Proof of life. IdentityX liveness testing helped confirm that the person was physically present, adding fraud detection before the completed verification was submitted.
