A closer look.
The Getty in your pocket. Getty360 was the official mobile guide to the J. Paul Getty Trust, bringing exhibitions, events and visitor information for the Getty Center and Getty Villa into one iPhone app.
Something new to discover. Visitors could explore everything from special performances to daily tours, making it easier to see what was happening across both Getty locations.
Make time for inspiration. Users could find exhibitions and events they loved and add them directly to their calendar, turning discovery into a plan for their next visit.
Working behind the scenes. I delivered the iOS implementation as a silent contractor while another partner led design, API development and customer communication, translating their requirements into the finished app.
Designed beyond the defaults. The visual direction called for custom UI solutions rather than stock components. I translated those designs across collection views, tables, embedded web content and transitions.
Blur before its time. Before iOS offered native blur effects, I created an interactive blurred background by precomputing mipmapped images and interpolating between them as the user dragged across the screen.
A native foundation. I structured the app in Objective-C with Storyboards and familiar UIKit patterns, creating a clear architecture for its mix of editorial content, event browsing and visitor information.
